Q̓ʷalayu House opening - July 12, 2021
It’s official, Campbell River! Our CEO Veronica Carroll, our Board Director Bryan Thomson, father Nick Chowdhury, and his son Nathan all cut the ribbon and officially opened Q̓ʷalayu House, Campbell River’s new home away from home!
“Today is an emotional and exciting culmination of years of consultation, community collaboration, planning, and design work. We broke ground just last year and I never imagined that, during a global pandemic, we’d be able to build Q̓ʷalayu House as quickly as we did. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our community and our donors. Without them, none of this would be possible. And because of them, thousands of families will have a safe and affordable place to stay while caring for their child. This home will truly help transform health care outcomes for north Island families.” – Veronica Carroll, Children’s Health Foundation CEO.

Home away from home Campbell River Qwalayu House campaign launch
We have officially launched a fundraising campaign to build a home away from home in Campbell River. Here are a few memorable moments from our announcement. We need your help to raise $7 million to build and equip the home, and to support operations costs for the first five years. This development is inspired by Jeneece Place, a home away from home in Victoria. Qwalayu House will support families in the northern region of Vancouver Island and neighbouring communities.
