Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027. To mark this special milestone, we’re inviting Island kids and youth to create art pieces for our Virtual art gallery and our 2027 Children’s Art Calendar.
This year’s theme is Celebration. We encourage young artists to interpret this theme in their own creative way. The artwork might celebrate friends or family, birthdays, animals, nature, holidays, or any joyful moment.
Submitted pieces will be displayed in an online gallery at islandkidsfirst.com, and 12 will be featured in our Calendar. Plus, selected pieces will also be displayed in one of our facilities.

Who is eligible to participate in this art show?
All amateur young artists up to the age of 18 who live on Vancouver Island or the surrounding islands.
How many pieces of artwork per young artist?
Young artists can submit a maximum of three pieces.
How can I submit the artwork?
Submit the piece by October 14 using one of the following methods:
Online (preferred)
- Scan the artwork in full colour at 300 dpi (minimum).
- Save as a JPEG, PNG or PDF.
- Ensure the artwork is well aligned and cropped to the edges.
- Email your artwork and completed submission form to: info@islandkidsfirst.com
By mail
Mail your original artwork along with the completed submission form to:

Do not fold your artwork. If you can, please include a cardboard insert to avoid the artwork being damaged or bent in transit. Write ‘do not bend’ on the envelope.
What is the submission deadline?
All artwork must be received by October 14, 2026.
What if we want to create artwork for more than one theme?

What is my artwork being used for?
Your artwork will be displayed in a virtual art gallery on the website and at one of the Foundation facilities. If your artwork is selected for a 2027 Children’s Art Calendar, it may represent one of the months, along with your first name, age, title of your piece, and home community.
When will the entries be selected? How will artists be notified?
Once the show closes, it will take up to four weeks to review all submissions and make a final decision. Artists whose artwork is selected for a calendar will be notified via phone and/or email.
What can I use to create my artwork?
Markers, paints, watercolors, pastels, collage – as long as it is two-dimensional. All artwork must be submitted on 8.5” x 11” paper.
Can I send in my artwork digitally?
Yes. You can scan the artwork in full colour at 300 dpi (minimum) and save as a JPEG, PNG or PDF. Ensure the artwork is well aligned and cropped to the edges.

If my artwork isn’t selected, will I receive it back?
No, unfortunately, artwork will not be returned.
I would like to submit a piece of artwork, but I cannot print the entry form. Can I still take part?
Yes, absolutely. Please handwrite the information required on a separate piece of paper and include it along with your submission.
