Jeneece Place lights up to brighten spirits during the holiday season

Jeneece Place light-up 2020

Victoria’s beloved home away from home, Jeneece Place, is lifting spirits with an 8,000-bulb holiday light display. This marks the ninth annual holiday light up at Jeneece Place thanks to volunteers and community donors.
Once again Children’ s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island donors and husband and wife duo, Adrian and Tracey D’Silva, have volunteered their time to decorate the home for the season. They have been doing so since Jeneece Place opened in 2012.

Over the years the D’Silvas, the Edroff family, Canadian Tire (at Hillside Centre), and many others in the community have donated decorations and lights to brighten up Jeneece Place for the holiday season. This year the D’Silvas have hung more than a hundred strands of lights, many donated by the team at Canadian Tire who have been replacing strings as they burn out.

In 2020 families with children requiring ongoing or acute healthcare services face even greater challenges as financial uncertainty, isolation, and fear of infection are added to their daily anxieties. Jeneece Place offers a safe and affordable home away from home for families while their children are receiving care at the neighbouring Victoria General Hospital.

Thanks to our generous donors who have gifted their time and decorations, families staying in Jeneece Place can feel the warmth and festive spirit of the season, despite what they are going through.
