Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie Week raises more than $39,000 for Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island’s home away from home, Jeneece Place

Victorians have a sweet tooth and a generous heart. It’s a winning combination for Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, which today received a $39,474 donation from Greater Victoria Tim Hortons store owners. The funds, raised by local Tim Hortons restaurants during the annual Smile Cookie Week, September 13 – 19, 2021, will support Jeneece Place, the Foundation’s home away from home next door to Victoria General Hospital. For the eighth year in a row, 23 Tim Hortons restaurants across the Greater Victoria region supported Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, with this year’s proceeds topping the last by 19 percent. To date, close to $250,000 has been raised in Victoria through the sale of Smile Cookies to support Island kids.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Tim Hortons store owners who donate their full Smile Cookie proceeds to the Foundation”, said Children’s Health Foundation CEO Veronica Carroll, “and to everyone who bought cookies this year and made the event such a sweet success. Your support changes health outcomes and puts smiles on the faces of Island kids and their families.” For 25 years, Tim Hortons restaurant owners have shown their dedication to supporting their communities through the annual week-long Smile Cookie campaign, in which 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of chocolate chunk cookies are donated to a charity.

Last year, Tim Hortons restaurant owners and guests across the country raised a record-breaking $10.56 million to support more than 500 local charities through their annual Smile Cookie campaign. This year, more than 600 different charities and community groups, including Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, benefited from the over $12 million raised during Smile Cookie Week, Sept. 13 through Sept. 19.
