Bursaries

Helping them reach their potential

We believe children and youth with health challenges deserve the same opportunities in life as other children.

That’s why we administer two bursaries to help our young learners and their health care providers access continuing education opportunities that will help them reach their potential.

Lisa Huus Memorial Fund

The Lisa Huus Bursary assists youth with disabilities in undertaking or continuing post-secondary education at an accredited institution in British Columbia and in Alberta. Funds can be used for tuition, textbooks, equipment, transportation, residence, and support worker costs.

Applications are open from March 31 to May 31, 2026

Women’s Institute Bursary

The Women’s Institute Bursary honours our beginnings, assisting staff members who provide services to children at the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children’s Health in undertaking continuing education courses in pediatric or family care.

Applications are now closed and will reopen on March 1, 2027.

Grants

We are developing our strategy to meet community needs

Our Foundation engages donors, system leaders, families, and family-serving organizations in collaborative and transformative work to ensure every child has access to the health care they need.  In addition to our in-house programs, we are working with our long-time partners to fund targeted projects that align with our mission.  We do not anticipate hosting a general call for proposals in the near future and politely decline unsolicited proposals.

We encourage you to stay connected with us as we embark on a new chapter in serving our Island communities.
