Coastal Black Christmas Rich in Community Spirit

Wind and rain didn’t keep flocks of people in the Comox Valley away from enjoying the spirit of the season at Coastal Black Estate Winery’s magical holiday event.

Coastal Black Christmas welcomed more than 7000 guests excited to see live reindeer, Santa Claus, a nativity, fireworks and many more magical elements. One dollar from every admission ticket was donated to Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, for a total donation of $7,043. The winery also allowed us to sell tickets to a WestJet raffle in conjunction with the event, helping us raise an extra $2,050 to invest in the health of kids in the Comox Valley.

Coastal Black added yet another special feature to this year’s Christmas event — a Christmas storybook called A Coastal Black Christmas. The winery invited the Foundation to name the reindeer whose adventures are detailed in the story. We chose Polly, the name of the little girl who inspired the creation of the Queen Alexandra Solarium in the 1920s.

Our sincere thanks to the Coastal Black family for inviting the Foundation to partner with them for a second year. We are delighted to be part of this spectacular event that brings the community together in celebration of Christmastime and the season of giving.
