Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and Nanaimo NightOwls announce new community partnership
Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is proud to announce a new community partnership with Nanaimo NightOwls, bringing together summer baseball, family entertainment, and meaningful support for Island kids and families.
The partnership will be highlighted by a special Children’s Health Foundation game day on Sunday, June 7, when the NightOwls host the Edmonton Riverhawks at Serauxmen Stadium. The afternoon will feature a full game day promotion built around the Foundation, giving fans a chance to learn more about the charity’s work and support its impact here in Nanaimo.
Throughout the 2026 season, NightOwls fans will also have opportunities to donate to the Foundation and enter to win a WestJet flight package, with the winner to be drawn at the final game of the season.
“The NightOwls have always believed that baseball is at its best when it brings people together,” said Adrian Somers, VP Operations and Business for the Nanaimo NightOwls.
“This partnership allows our fans, players, and community to rally around an organization doing incredibly important work for children and families right here in Nanaimo and across Vancouver Island.”
Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is currently raising funds for Jesse’s House, a new Home Away From Home in Nanaimo for families who must travel to access care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and nearby health services. Currently under construction, the 16-bedroom facility will be the third in a network of homes owned and operated by the Foundation, joining Jeneece Place in Victoria and Q̓ʷalayu House in Campbell River. Jesse’s House will provide a welcoming place for out-of-town families to stay close to their children during medical care, reducing travel stress and keeping families together when it matters most.
“The Nanaimo community has stepped up in such a big way to meet the growing demand for a mid-Island Home Away From Home,” said Veronica Carroll, CEO, Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.
“Partnerships like this help connect families with the support they need, while giving the community a fun and meaningful way to get involved. We are so grateful to the Nanaimo NightOwls and their fans for helping bring Jesse’s House to life and supporting the health and well-being of Island kids.”
The Children’s Health Foundation game day is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 at 1:05 PM at Serauxmen Stadium. Tickets and more information are available at nanaimonightowls.com.
