Six simple ways to support Island kids this holiday season

Have you ever considered hosting a fundraiser to support a cause you care about? With the holiday season approaching, now is the perfect time to plan a fun, impactful event.

Invite your workmates, gather your loved ones, or inspire your neighbourhood to join forces and support a great cause.

Give your next dinner party a greater purpose

Planning a dinner party over the holidays? Instead of asking guests to bring a bottle of wine or an appetizer, invite them to contribute towards a group donation.

Organize a bake or craft sale

If you have a passion for baking or knitting, consider hosting a festive bake sale or handmade craft fair in your community. Invite your neighbours, coworkers, or friends to participate by contributing homemade goods.

Give a holiday gift that gives back

This season, consider making a donation in honour or in memory of a loved one. A thoughtful gift like this can make a meaningful impact and create a lasting legacy of care.

Host a school bottle drive

If you’re a teacher or have kids at school, consider organizing a holiday bottle drive. Encourage families to collect their bottles and cans, then use the proceeds to make a donation. It will teach little ones the value of community service while caring for the environment.

Host a group fitness challenge

Set a goal for your challenge and advertise to your personal or professional network that you’re raising money to help Island families. Create your fundraising page in a few quick steps at justgiving.com/campaign/islandkidsfirst

Support a good cause with your colleagues

Having a work party or holiday event? Get your boss on board and suggest a fundraising component. Instead of a Secret Santa gift for colleagues, why not suggest a donation instead? Or charge a small fee for the event and let guests know it will support the health of Island kids.
