Thank you to our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who participated in the 4th annual WHEN PIGS FLY Radiothon.
Since 2021, Radiothon has raised over $177,457 for Q̓walayu House, supporting Island families who need to travel to Campbell River for maternal and pediatric health care.
We were live on 98.9 JetFM, 99.7 The River FM, and 1240 Coast AM, and on-site at Save-On-Foods Campbell River on June 20, 2024, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
When a community rallies together, anything is possible!
Why “when pigs fly”…
In 2009, seven-year-old Jeneece Edroff embarked on a penny fundraiser to build a home away from home for children and their families needing to travel to Victoria for health care. People said this would happen “when pigs fly”, but one little kid’s perseverance rallied the community and turned a dream into reality in 2012 – Jeneece Place in Victoria.
Fast forward 9 years later to July 12, 2021 when the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island opened the doors to its second Home away from home on Vancouver Island, Q̓ʷalayu House in Campbell River. This beautiful Home away from home offers comfort, safety, and affordability to north Island families needing to travel to the city for maternal and pediatric care.
