Island children and youth are invited to submit artwork

In celebration of National Child Day on November 20, 2024, Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island will be holding a themed art show spanning across Vancouver Island and surrounding islands.

Children and youth up to the age of 18 have the opportunity to create artwork in celebration of National Child Day 

All submitted artwork will be displayed in an online gallery on our website, as well as randomly placed in one of our facilities for a minimum of one week: Westshore Child, Youth, and Family Centre; Sooke Child, Youth, and Family Centre; Jeneece Place, and Q̓ʷalayu House.

Twelve pieces will also be selected for our Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island 2025 wall calendar.

All children and youth living on Vancouver Island or the surrounding islands are invited to get involved in this fun project!

The art show is open to all young amateur artists who live on Vancouver Island or the surrounding islands. We’ll accept artwork submissions until May 31, 2024. Youth Virtual Art Show FAQ

Who is eligible to participate in this art show?

All amateur young artists up to the age of 18 who live on Vancouver Island or the surrounding islands.

How many pieces of artwork per young artist?

Young artists can submit a maximum of three pieces.

What is the submission deadline?

All artwork must be received by May 31, 2024.

What if we want to create artwork for more than one theme?

You are welcome to create artwork for three different themes. Please keep artwork to one theme per piece.

What is my artwork being used for?

Your artwork will be displayed in a digital art show http://www.islandkidsfirst.com and at one of the Foundation facilities. If your artwork is selected for a 2025 Foundation calendar, it may represent one of the months, along with your first name, age, title of your piece, and home community. 

When will the entries be selected? How will artists be notified?

Once the show closes, it will take up to four weeks to review all submissions and make a final decision. Artists whose artwork is selected for a calendar will be notified via phone and/or email.

How many pieces of artwork will be selected?

At least two pieces of artwork will be selected for each theme.

What can I use to create my artwork?

Markers, paints, watercolors, pastels, collage as long as it is two-dimensional. All artwork must be submitted on 8.5” x11” paper.

Can I send in my artwork digitally?

No, unfortunately only mailed-in artwork will be accepted.

If my artwork isn’t selected, will I receive it back?

No, unfortunately, artwork will not be returned.

I would like to submit a piece of artwork, but I cannot print the entry form. Can I still take part?

Yes, absolutely. Please handwrite the information required on a separate piece of paper and include it along with your submission.
