Welcoming new Board Chair Paul Murray
Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is excited to introduce Paul Murray as the new Board Chair. Paul has served on the board for the past four years, most recently as Vice Chair and Treasurer.
At the time, Paul was working with the District of Central Saanich, helping recruit a new city manager. Knowing Paul’s love for challenges and community involvement, a colleague encouraged him to consider joining the Foundation’s board.
As Paul steps into his role as Board Chair, he envisions the Foundation continuing to build on its strengths and expanding its reach.
“It’s about continuing the good work… the focus is always going to be the same. It’s about kids’ health and making sure, in our way, that we contribute to improving it as much as we can,” said Paul.
The Foundation is also thrilled to welcome five new board members this fall, including public relations professional and former CHFVI Board Chair Sandra Hudson, former structural engineering consultant Bruce Johnson, Allyson Prescesky, Associate Vice President, Community Impact and Corporate Communications for Coastal Community Credit Union, Paula Tyler, former President of the Norlien (now Palix) Foundation, and growth strategy executive Sydney Waddington.
Paul and Foundation CEO Veronica Carroll expressed their gratitude to outgoing Board Chair Cory Herrera and directors Catherine Pate, Joanne Schroeder, Dr. Megan McFadden, Dr. Norgrove Penny, and Bryan Thomson for their outstanding terms of committed service to the board. They thanked Cory for agreeing to remain on the board as Past Chair, citing her inspirational leadership over the last two years, as well as Dr. Penny, who has agreed to remain as a special external advisor to the board.
“The dedication and commitment of our board continues to motivate and inspire all of us at the Foundation,” said Veronica. “With their leadership, and the generous support of our donors, the Foundation invested over $4.5 million in the community in the past year. We look forward to continuing to support Island children with complex health challenges in the year ahead.”
