Community events support
Location: Island-wide
We organize several events throughout the year. Tasks may involve setting up booths, tables, and chairs, assisting at the registration desk, selling tickets, interacting with the public, and much more.
Victoria
Smile Cookie week (April 28 – May 2, 2025)
- Monday April 28, 2025: Tim Horton’s – 2950 Douglas Street, Victoria.
- Tuesday April 29, 2025: Tim Horton’s – 150 – 31 Helmcken Rd, Victoria.
- Wednesday April 30, 2025: Tim Horton’s – 3990 Shelbourne St, Victoria.
- Thursday May 1, 2025: Tim Horton’s – 2945 Jacklin Rd., Victoria.
- Friday May 2, 2025: Tim Horton’s – 1664 Hillside Ave, Victoria.
This role will suit volunteers who are enthusiastic, willing to chat with the public, have strong customer service skills and creativity. Role duties include:
- Greet customers at the Tim Hortons drive-thru with a warm smile and positive energy.
- Wave Smile Cookie signs to promote the campaign.
- Engage in conversations with customers about the Tim Hortons Foundation and the Smile Cookie campaign.
- Educate customers on how their purchase supports the Foundation.
Home away from home opportunities at Jeneece Place
Jeneece Place is a home where children and their families can stay while receiving medical care in Victoria. Envisioned by Jeneece Edroff and owned and operated by Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, Jeneece Place is located on the Victoria General Hospital grounds.
Volunteer driver
Do you enjoy driving and supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference? We have an opportunity for Volunteer Driver to deliver pre-packaged meals from our community partner (Rainbow Kitchen) to Jeneece Place. The commitment will be two times per month between the hours of 9:30am and 1:00pm (time commitment will be ~1hr)
Requirements:
- You will be required to provide a copy of a valid driver’s license.
- Must be over the age of 21.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a current Driver’s Abstract. We accept drivers with no more than 5 demerit points in the past 5 years and it must not include a distracted driving infraction. Obtain your Driver’s Record from ICBC online. You will receive the record by email.
- Proof of $2 million Third-Party Liability Insurance is required.
- A vehicle that is in safe working condition.

Home away from home opportunities at Q̓ʷalayu House
Q̓ʷalayu House is a home in Campbell River where families from the north Island and surrounding islands can stay while their children receive health care in the region and where pregnant individuals from remote communities can stay close to the hospital as their due date approaches. We are looking for volunteers to help create a sense of home. Whether you have a free hour or are looking for more of a permanent volunteer role, please take a moment to view our current opportunities below:
Spring cleaning support
We are looking for some additional assistance with spring cleaning tasks which could include:
- Removing linens from beds.
- Taking off mattress and boxspring covers for washing.
- Cleaning bed frames & headboards.
- Vacuuming behind and around bed platforms.
- Rotating boxsprings.
- Remaking the beds with clean mattress pads, linens & bedspread
Dates: 1-2 days in April – dates are flexible based on availability.
Times: Some time between 8am – 4pm
Garden care
Help in the gardens of Q̓ʷalayu House, completing light tasks such as weeding, maintaining the garden beds, planting, and watering. This is also a wonderful opportunity for group volunteering.

We welcome businesses, schools, family, work groups, and others to volunteer together as a group! This provides a fun team bonding opportunity. If interested in volunteering as a group, please have the group leader complete the group online application form.

Board Members
Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is recruiting new members to its Board of Directors. As a Board member, you would be joining a group of committed volunteers to provide governance and guidance to our Foundation. The Board meets every two months, and each Director is accountable for serving on one or two committees.
The Board seeks to represent our ethnic and indigenous communities and to ensure we are reflective of the diversity of the communities we serve. We are also looking for individuals who can represent the needs of children with complex health care needs. Additionally, we are looking for individuals across Vancouver Island who have experience, relationships and networks to support our work in projects and fundraising, who have health care experience, legal expertise, or institutional investment expertise.
