Home away from home opportunities at Q̓ʷalayu House
Q̓ʷalayu House is a home in Campbell River where families from the north Island and surrounding islands can stay while their children receive health care in the region and where pregnant individuals from remote communities can stay close to the hospital as their due date approaches. We are looking for volunteers to help create a sense of home. Whether you have a free hour or are looking for more of a permanent volunteer role, please take a moment to view our current opportunities below:
Garden care
Help in the gardens of Q̓ʷalayu House, completing light tasks such as weeding, maintaining the garden beds, planting, and watering. This is also a wonderful opportunity for group volunteering.
Office support
Location: Victoria (Colwood)
From time to time, the Foundation needs support in the office on Wale Rd in Colwood. Office support could include helping put together packages for conferences, supporting a mail-out, computer work, or helping with donor thank-you phone calls.

Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island is recruiting new members to its Board of Directors. As a Board member, you would be joining a group of committed volunteers to provide governance and guidance to our Foundation. The Board meets every two months, and each Director is accountable for serving on one or two committees.
The Board seeks to represent our ethnic and indigenous communities and to ensure we are reflective of the diversity of the communities we serve. We are also looking for individuals who can represent the needs of children with complex health care needs. Additionally, we are looking for individuals across Vancouver Island who have experience, relationships and networks to support our work in projects and fundraising, who have health care experience, legal expertise, or institutional investment expertise.
